Visas

 As from May 2004 Cyprus is a full member of the European Community. Please be aware that many participants may require a visa for entry in Cyprus. It is the delegate’s responsibility to arrange this. 

 

Entry Regulations and Visa requirements

Residents of non-EU countries who hold valid Schengen visas and who have already entered Schengen countries, as per the Schengen regulations, may now travel to Cyprus directly from that Schengen member country without applying for a National Cypriot visa and can stay in the Republic of Cyprus for the duration of their Schengen visa.


Where Visas are issued
Visas will be issued by all the Diplomatic Missions (Embassies and General Consulates) of the Republic of Cyprus, and by all the Honorary Consulates of the Republic of Cyprus abroad in their respective countries. Additionally visas can also be issued by the British High Commissions / Embassies in the following countries: 
ARGENTINE REPUBLIC, BAHREIN, HONG KONG, JAPAN, JORDAN, KAZAKHSTAN, KUWAIT, OMAN, SWITZERLAND, SUDAN, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES (ABU DHABI, DUBAI), UZBEKISTAN.

Invitation letters
If you do need a VISA, the EARLI 2015 Local Organization Committee will need (a) to issue a letter to you, and (b) to inform the Cyprus Embassy close to you so that they can anticipate your VISA application. We have been asked by the Cyprus Ministry of External Affairs to verify in the letter that will be issued to you the following information:
•    that you are an active participant in the conference (i.e you will be presenting of some sort) and include paper title, your registration code and your booking code
•    where you will be staying
The above information together with Full name, Passport number, Date of birth, Address, Institution of the delegate should be sent to (address) and also the Cyprus embassy at which you will be applying for a VISA.
We will need 10 days before we can issue the letter and inform the embassy.
